The Manifesto
Thought in orbit
The Madarat Maarifia Association (“Cognitive Orbits” / Orbits of Knowledge) was born in March 1993 from the resolve of young graduates of the Tunisian university, convinced of the power of collective work, to found a multidisciplinary research that is sound and profound.
Believing in the primacy of the cultural over the political, the association publishes a quarterly, multidisciplinary and multilingual journal — Madarat — conceived as a voice of creation. Its founding manifesto appears on the cover of every issue.

Why “Madarat”
The importance of culture commands such unanimity that no one could contest its contribution to the constitution of personality, which lies at the foundation of the social order — on the national as well as the universal plane. Encompassing the whole of social structures and of artistic, religious and intellectual expression, culture acts in distinctive ways upon the question of identity.
